At the core of my artistic practice lies a commitment to addressing the intricate relationships that define our existence in the contemporary world. The prevailing impact of the isolation enforced by the current socio-economic landscape, rooted in the capitalist system, persistently widens the gaps between us—fragmenting the connection between humanity and nature, between individuals, and within our own selves.
In response to this unsettling trend of alienation, my artistic endeavors take shape through various means. Firstly, I anchor myself to a sense of authenticity and self-actualization by engaging in the act of creating art. Secondly, I confront and explore the prevailing phenomena of alienation within today‘s Western society. Thirdly, I actively cultivate spaces that foster connection, reflection, discourse, exchange, and encounters through my work. And crucially, I emphasize collaboration, inviting others to join me in the process of creation or participate collectively in the experience of a work.
For me, art is a catalyst for community building—an antidote to the isolation perpetuated by the contemporary world. Through a diverse range of media, including text, performance, video, and photography, I delve into subjects such as feminism, psychology, interpersonal relationships, the pandemic‘s impact on people and culture, all approached with a critical and often political lens. My work aims to give voice to the unheard and reveal the often overlooked aspects of our shared experience.
While the specific mediums may vary from project to project, the underlying process remains consistent. Beginning with a pertinent observation, I conduct research and develop concepts that organically evolve into the final piece. The formal decisions, encompassing medium, format, and techniques, align with the content at hand.Whether incorporating music and sound samples in a performance exposing the reality of sexiststructures in Zurich‘s nightlife or crafting a meditative videoinstallation about escaping the city‘s frenetic pace, my goal is to create an immersive experience that resonates on both intellectual and emotional levels. Each formal choice serves to deepen the connection between the audience and the subject matter.
